Peer Education (Gold)

Peer EducationThe GOLD Peer Education Project is a three (3) year project being implemented by Youth Vision Zambia (YVZ). The project is be funded by GOLD Peer Education Development Agency, a South Africa based non-profit organization playing a key role in confronting the root issues of HIV and AIDS pandemic through the roll out of a long term adolescent peer education model.

GOLD Peer Education Development Agency and YVZ aims to be part of the multi-sectoral response to achieve the National AIDS Strategic Framework vision of a proud Zambia free from the threat of HIV and AIDS. The project reaches young people aged 11-15 both out of school and in school, while the implementation of the project is done in Kafue district, 48 Kilometres from Lusaka district, in the (3) sites, namely Zambia, Nangongwe and Shikoswe compounds.

Two members of staff were trained in GOLD Peer Education Programming. The training increased the staff levels of knowledge and skills in GOLD Peer Education programming. This also facilitated the smooth internal planning of GOLD Peer Education project activities. One linkages meeting was held in Kafue. 36 stakeholders attended the meeting. The meeting helped to clarify the roles of various players in the project and addressed a number of issues the stakeholders had regarding the project.
